Pedaling along palm‑lined causeways and sandy tracks gives you a constant sea breeze, a far cry from city traffic. The dry season provides firm roads, while the wet months can turn some routes soggy. Riders tend to be a relaxed mix of expats and adventure‑seeking tourists, so the roads stay pleasantly open.

Addu Atoll offers the most extensive paved cycling infrastructure in the Maldives, featuring a 17-kilometer causeway that connects the islands of Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Feydhoo, and Gan. Riders enjoy flat, scenic coastal roads passing through lush tropical vegetation and traditional Maldivian villages, far removed from the typical resort-only experience.
Access. Accessible via domestic flight from Velana International Airport to Gan International Airport. Bicycles can be rented from local guesthouses on Gan or Hithadhoo.
Notes. Best experienced in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid peak tropical heat. The terrain is entirely flat and suitable for all fitness levels.
Fuvahmulah Island

Fuvahmulah is a unique one-island atoll that offers a rare, continuous cycling experience across a diverse landscape of wetlands, tropical forests, and coastal roads. It is one of the few places in the Maldives where you can ride for several kilometers without interruption, enjoying the island's distinct geological character.
Access. Accessible via domestic flight from Velana International Airport to Fuvahmulah Airport; bicycles can be rented from local guesthouses.
Notes. The island is flat and traffic is generally light, making it suitable for casual riders and e-bikes.

Hulhumalé is a reclaimed island designed with modern urban planning that includes dedicated cycling paths and wide, paved roads. It provides a unique opportunity to cycle through a rapidly developing Maldivian city while enjoying views of the turquoise Indian Ocean.
Access. Connected to the capital Malé and the airport island by a causeway. Bike rentals are available through various local shops and guesthouses on the island.
Notes. Traffic can be moderate in the city center; use designated cycle lanes where available. Ideal for casual cruising.

The Laamu Atoll features a series of interconnected islands linked by a long causeway system, providing a rare opportunity for extended road cycling in the Maldives. Cyclists can traverse multiple islands, passing through traditional fishing villages and lush coconut groves with the ocean visible on both sides.
Access. Accessible via domestic flight to Kadhdhoo Airport; bike rentals are available through various resorts and local guesthouses in the region.
Notes. The causeways provide a unique 'bridge-riding' experience; best enjoyed early in the morning to avoid the midday heat.
