The vibe

The paved roads stretching along the Atlantic coastline near Monrovia offer scenic, albeit humid, road cycling opportunities. The route provides a mix of urban transitions and quieter stretches along the beach, popular with local cycling enthusiasts and visiting road riders.
Access. Bike rentals are limited; it is recommended to travel with a personal bike or connect with the Liberia Cycling Federation for local group rides.
Notes. Traffic can be heavy near the city center; early morning rides are recommended to avoid heat and congestion.
Sapo National Park Perimeter

The perimeter of Sapo National Park offers a mix of gravel and dirt tracks that wind through dense rainforest and rural landscapes. It is a destination for those interested in multi-day expedition-style bike touring through one of West Africa's most significant protected areas.
Access. Requires significant planning and local support; access is typically gained via Zwedru or Greenville. Self-supported touring is highly challenging here.
Notes. Requires high-level navigation skills and preparation for tropical conditions. Not suitable for casual riders.
