The vibe
Limestone sea cliffs and hidden river-valley boulders offer a raw, humid style of movement with very few crowds around. Winter offers the only reliably cool friction before heavy rains and summer heat shut down the hardest walls. Access is mostly an unspoken local agreement with minimal signage, so you arrive self-sufficient with your own rack.

Longdong is Taiwan's world-class seaside sport climbing and deep-water soloing destination, featuring magnificent quartz sandstone sea cliffs plunging into the Pacific. With hundreds of established bolted routes ranging from beginner to expert grades, it is the undisputed capital of Taiwanese rock climbing.
Access. Located on the northeast coast, reachable by bus or car from Taipei or Yilan. Approach trails to the sea crags start near the Longdong Bay Ocean Park. Climbable year-round, though autumn and spring offer the most comfortable temperatures and lower typhoon risks.
Notes. Salt spray creates slippery rock conditions and accelerates gear corrosion; watch for rogue waves along lower ledges.
