The vibe
Vertical exploration here is niche rather than a major global cragging scene, focusing on scattered basalt outcrops and coastal cliffs. The cooler southern winter months offer the most comfortable grip away from the intense midday heat. Access is generally straightforward and informal, though you are far more likely to meet curious locals than traveling climbing parties.

Situated on the scenic western coast, the Tamarin area provides striking basalt rock climbing backdropped by coastal views. Climbers visit for its technical vertical faces and adventurous line settings.
Access. Accessed via the coastal road towards Tamarin and a brief uphill hike to the cliff bases. Best visited in the early morning or during the winter dry season (May–November).
Notes. Mixed development with some traditional protection and bolted lines; check local route guides before heading out.
