There is no established sport climbing culture or destination cragging scene here, as the terrain is defined by soft volcanic rock and dense jungle rather than clean limestone walls. Travelers looking for vertical limestone usually head elsewhere in Central America. You will find nothing in the way of bolted routes or climbing infrastructure to sustain a trip.

Located in the cloud forests near Tegucigalpa, La Tigra offers exploratory rock climbing on granite and volcanic formations. Climbers seeking off-the-beaten-path crags find technical routes amidst lush high-elevation canopies.
Access. Access is via Tegucigalpa, traveling north toward San Juancito. Local climbing clubs in Tegucigalpa organize weekend trips and can provide current route beta.
Notes. Rainy season runs from May to November; the dry season from December to April offers the best climbing conditions.
