It is a remote, expedition-style climbing area that attracts adventurous climbers looking for first ascents and unique geological formations in a stunning Sahara landscape.
Access. Access requires a 4x4 expedition from N'Djamena, typically organized through specialized adventure travel agencies that provide logistics, permits, and local guides. The best climbing season is during the cooler months from November to February.
Notes. Requires significant self-sufficiency and expedition planning; mostly traditional climbing on soft sandstone, requiring careful gear placement and ethics.
