The vibe
Sand stretches range from palm-backed white arcs humming with beach bars to wild, driftwood-strewn mainland shores where you might share the tide with local fishermen. The dry months from winter through spring bring the clearest turquoise water and most reliable breeze for shoreline lounging. Visitors typically drift between lively resort strips and completely untamed, footprint-free coves with an easygoing barefoot independence.
Camp Bay Beach, Roatán

Located on the undeveloped eastern end of Roatán, Camp Bay is a long, wild stretch of golden sand backed by coconut palms and low hills. It offers a remote, peaceful alternative to the busy western beaches with pristine shallows and refreshing trade winds.
Access. Reached via an unpaved, bumpy road running past Oak Ridge, best tackled with a 4x4 or guided island tour.
Notes. Very few facilities on-site; visitors should bring their own supplies.
Chepes Beach, Útila

Chepes Beach is the main public sandy beach on the laid-back island of Útila, offering warm Caribbean waters and a relaxed local vibe. A few beach bars and shade trees make it a favorite spot to unwind after diving or exploring the island.
Access. A short walk from the center of East Harbour town, easily accessible on foot or by bicycle.
Diamond Beach, Guanaja

Access. Accessible primarily by water taxi from Guanaja's main settlement or local boat charters.
Notes. Limited tourist infrastructure; visitors should arrange return transport in advance.
Fantasy Island Beach, Roatán

Occupying a lush, private-feeling cay connected to the main island by a short bridge, this beach features soft beige sand and warm, shallow waters. It is renowned for its tranquil atmosphere and resident wildlife, including free-roaming capuchin monkeys in the surrounding trees.
Access. Reached via the access road onto the Fantasy Island resort cay, about a 25-minute drive from the main cruise port.
Notes. Access to certain resort amenities may require a day pass.

Access. Accessible only by organized boat tours or water taxis from La Ceiba or Sambo Creek.
Notes. Strict environmental rules apply within the marine reserve; no commercial development is permitted.

Notes. Can experience stronger wave action and currents compared to the protected cays.
West Bay Beach, Roatán
