Danyang

Known as the paragliding capital of South Korea, Danyang offers spectacular flights over the Namhan River and the surrounding Sobaeksan mountains. The region features multiple launch sites that provide consistent thermal conditions for both tandem and experienced pilots.
Access. Accessible via KTX train from Seoul to Danyang Station, followed by a short taxi ride to the mountain launch sites. Numerous local operators provide shuttle services and tandem flight bookings.
Notes. Best flying conditions are during spring and autumn; flights are highly dependent on wind direction and weather stability.
Hadong

Located near the Jirisan mountain range, Hadong offers a unique paragliding experience with views of the Seomjin River and the lush green tea fields below. It is a favored spot for pilots looking for scenic cross-country flights in the southern part of the country.
Access. Accessible by bus or train to Hadong. Local paragliding schools offer transport to the launch sites located on the slopes of the surrounding mountains.
Notes. Thermal activity is strong in the afternoons; early morning flights are often calmer for beginners.
Hantangang River

The Hantangang River is famous for its unique volcanic basalt cliffs that line the riverbanks, creating a dramatic canyon for rafting. It offers a mix of gentle stretches and exciting rapids, making it a popular destination for adventure seekers near the capital region.
Access. Located in the Cheorwon area, accessible by car or bus from Seoul. Numerous rafting operators operate out of the riverside base camps during the summer months.
Notes. Water levels are dam-dependent; check with local operators for the best rafting windows.
Naerincheon River

The Naerincheon River in Inje is widely considered the best whitewater rafting destination in the country due to its natural flow and challenging rapids. It is one of the few rivers in Korea that offers a true whitewater experience through rugged, forested mountain terrain.
Access. Located in Gangwon-do, it is best accessed by bus or car from Seoul to Inje. Rafting trips are seasonal and must be booked through local adventure companies based in Inje.
Notes. Rafting is strictly seasonal, typically running from late spring through summer when water levels are managed by dam releases.
