The dry months between December and May keep dirt roads passable and river currents manageable for getting deep into the backcountry. You cobble the days together yourself by renting a high-clearance truck or hiring local guides directly at the trailhead.

Access. Located in Divisadero, Chihuahua; accessible via the Chepe train line or by road from Chihuahua City.
Notes. High altitude; visitors should be prepared for cooler temperatures and potential altitude sickness.

This region is a magnet for adventure sports, particularly known for its turquoise rivers and massive waterfalls. It is a premier spot for rafting on the Tampaón River and canyoning through the spectacular landscape.
Access. Fly into San Luis Potosí or Tampico; local adventure tour operators in Ciudad Valles provide guided rafting and canyoning expeditions.
Notes. The Tampaón River offers world-class Class III rafting; check seasonal river levels before booking.
Jalcomulco

Jalcomulco is the heart of whitewater rafting in Veracruz, featuring the Pescados River which offers exciting Class III and IV rapids. The lush canyon setting and consistent water flow make it a top destination for adventure seekers in central Mexico.
Access. Accessible via Xalapa; numerous professional rafting outfitters operate daily trips from the town of Jalcomulco.
Notes. Rafting is best during the rainy season (June to October) when water levels are higher.
Valle de Bravo

Widely considered the premier paragliding destination in Mexico, Valle de Bravo offers consistent thermal conditions and stunning views over Lake Avándaro. Pilots from around the world gather here for the reliable flying season and the vibrant town atmosphere.
Access. Located 2 hours from Mexico City; multiple local flight schools and clubs offer tandem flights and equipment transport to the El Peñón launch site.
Notes. Best flying season is from November to March; requires intermediate skills for solo pilots due to strong thermal activity.
